How To Uncover 1 Million Views on Your YouTube Channel [MATH]

hey all people that is roberto blake and in at this time’s youtube video i’ll discuss to you about the way you get 1 million views on youtube so in the event you’re watching this I’ve had 1,000,000 views for a short while now and I will speak about the way you truly do this and it is truly numerous simple arithmetic consider it or not see I began doing YouTube content material as of the making of this video possibly about 18 months in the past on a weekly foundation that is why I think about the launch of my YouTube channel despite the fact that I’ve had the account longer than that after I began doing weekly movies again in August starting of August of 2013 that was the beginning of my new YouTube channel watch and that is the place this all actually started so I just about virtually had zero at the moment and I’ve over 1,000,000 views now so a part of that was placing out constant common content material that was one of the essential issues and hindsight doing one video per week at the very least for the primary you realize eight months to a yr was actually gradual going however that is the place I acquired nearly all of my views and if I have been doing extra content material than that on common foundation I might scaled a lot quicker what I found out and what I discovered is that consistency quantity and high quality are the mathematical formulation to getting 1,000,000 views on YouTube so in case your aim for no matter motive was to get 1,000,000 views on YouTube you need to truly break down some simple arithmetic what does 1,000,000 views appear like so in the event you break that all the way down to the course of a yr and you concentrate on a yr cut up as much as let’s simply name it 50 weeks let’s simply say you are going to take two weeks off then that may imply that per week to get 1,000,000 views you’d need to get 20,000 views per week so how do you obtain that nicely in case your common view let’s simply say your common view on video finally ends up being you realize cumulatively 5,000 views and that is likely to be slightly tough however okay if it is 5,000 views you’d need to do four movies per week that get 5,000 views with the intention to hit that 20,000 whether or not it is in that precise week or whether or not it is over the course of the entire yr you’d need to be placing content material out that scales in that manner with the intention to hit 1,000,000 views inside one yr on YouTube and that is what is going on to do it for you so that you even have to determine who your audiences and is your viewers giant sufficient so that you can do this and do you’ve the time and the manufacturing capabilities to place out edit and promote 4 movies two 5 movies each week if you are able to do that then that places you on the highway to 1,000,000 views by the way that is additionally the identical manner that you simply get numerous subscribers whether or not that is ten thousand or 100 thousand over a time frame I’ll cowl the way you get numerous totally different quantities of subscribers in different movies I will do a video on the way to get your first hundred your first thousand your first ten thousand since I’ve achieved these milestones already and clearly as I get nearer to 100 thousand as of the making this video I am near twenty now I’ll do movies about these milestones and the way you scale and develop however the level is in the event you observe this math it is the identical the identical manner you get 100 thousand subscribers breaks all the way down to the identical manner you get 1,000,000 views in the middle of no matter time you need so if you concentrate on it from that perspective placing out a number of movies per week and even each day content material is the quickest solution to get views on your YouTube channel and to develop now some fast suggestions the way in which you get numerous views on a video is one sure put out high quality content material perceive who your viewers is be sure you have a large enough viewers and curiosity in what you are doing to tug these views additionally be sure you’re doing high quality thumbnails I’ve a complete How To Get 1 Million Views on Your YouTube Channel [MATH]

hey everybody this is roberto blake and in today’s youtube video i’m going to talk to you about how you get 1 million views on youtube so if you’re watching this I’ve had a million views for a little while now and I’m going to talk about how you actually do that and it’s actually a lot of simple math believe it or not see I started doing YouTube content as of the making of this video maybe about 18 months ago on a weekly basis that’s why I consider the launch of my YouTube channel even though I’ve had the account longer than that when I started doing weekly videos back in August beginning of August of 2013 that was the start of my new YouTube channel watch and that’s where this all really began so I pretty much almost had zero at that time and I have over a million views now so part of that was putting out consistent regular content that was one of the most important things and hindsight doing one video a week at least for the first you know eight months to a year was really slow going but that’s where I got the majority of my views and if I’ve been doing more content than that on regular basis I would scaled so much faster what I figured out and what I learned is that consistency volume and quality are the mathematical formula to getting a million views on YouTube so if your goal for whatever reason was to get a million views on YouTube you have to actually break down some simple math what does a million views look like so if you break that down to the course of a year and you think about a year split up to let’s just call it 50 weeks let’s just say you’re going to take two weeks off then that would mean that per week to get a million views you’d have to get 20,000 views per week so how do you achieve that well if your average view let’s just say your average view on video ends up being you know cumulatively 5,000 views and that might be a little rough but okay if it’s 5,000 views you’d have to do 4 videos a week that get 5,000 views in order to hit that 20,000 whether it’s in that actual week or whether it’s over the course of the whole year you’d have to be putting content out that scales in that way in order to hit a million views within one year on YouTube and that’s what’s going to do it for you so you also have to figure out who your audiences and is your audience large enough for you to do that and do you have the time and the production capabilities to put out edit and promote four videos two five videos every week if you can do that then that puts you on the road to a million views incidentally this is also the same way that you get a large number of subscribers whether that’s ten thousand or a hundred thousand over a period of time I will cover how you get various different amounts of subscribers in other videos I’ll do a video on how to get your first hundred your first thousand your first ten thousand since I’ve achieved those milestones already and obviously as I get closer to a hundred thousand as of the making this video I’m close to twenty now I will do videos about those milestones and how you scale and grow but the point is if you follow this math it’s the same the same way you get a hundred thousand subscribers breaks down to the same way you get a million views in the course of whatever time you want so if you think about it from that perspective putting out multiple videos a week or even daily content is the fastest way to get views for your YouTube channel and to grow now some quick tips the way you get a lot of views on a video is one yes put out quality content understand who your audience is make sure you have a big enough audience and interest in what you’re doing to pull those views also make sure you’re doing quality thumbnails I have a whole video where I talk about that look for that link in the description below make sure that you’re doing playlists for your videos to the people will watch not just one video but understand that it might be part of a series or similar topic or subject and they can watch those which will obviously add to your view count and will attract more subscribers understand how to do video SEO proper tagging for your videos good strong titles that will get people’s attention and will be easy to search search is how people find you in YouTube you have to make sure that your title makes sense that’s short and sweet and that it fits and you have a good thumbnail next to it and if you don’t have that people are not usually going to click and view so that’s how you get the views and you have to put out that much content and it has to scale and you have to promote it you have to market you have to put the videos up and you have to share them with people in Facebook Twitter Instagram you might want to use vine to draw people to your YouTube channel by putting out interesting micro content just do whatever fits your personality and don’t spam people with it do it in the context of the community of people who are interested #AskGaryVee Episode 64: Yik Yak, DNA, & Dinner with Winston Churchill

– On this episode I speak
Yik Yak, historic figures,
and what my youngsters have taught me.
(crowd applauses)
You ask questions,
and I reply them.
That is
the #AskGaryVee Present.
Hey everyone, that is Gary Vay-ner-chuk
and also you’re watching the #AskGaryVee Present
episode quantity 64.
Earlier than we get into the questions at present,
I am excited, we did one yesterday, proper?
Oh no the snow day.
The “faux” snow day
in NY city, that
actually pissed me off.
However, acquired a while with the youngsters
which made it fairly superior.
Recognize everyone, I
see that Alex De Simone
the place is Alex?
Sitting at his desk?
That is alright, you may
go away him, Staphon.
Give him large daps final evening
his hustle was sturdy
extra individuals had been segueing to asking
questions on Instagram.
Let’s hyperlink that up in order for you
to ask questions on the present.
I am having fun with this.
Instagram recreation is de facto
fascinating to me.
Betting exhausting on it.
All of you entrepreneurs ought to.
It’s the primary social community because the
“consideration graph” goes.
By the way in which, I have to desperately
make an consideration graph
like, we have got to get into that.
‘Trigger that is what I care about.
Let’s get into the present.
– [Voiceover] Austin asks,
“Gary, in episode 63 you say you
watch and may inform if individuals
are hustling.
How do you inform?
Engagement, frequency, or intestine?”
– Austin, that is a terrific query.
I really like that recall to
that lengthy, lengthy, lengthy
time in the past episode quantity 63.
Yeah, that is how I do it and it is humorous
I am in love with this reply
by the way in which, I am providing you with
a pre-alert that I feel
the solutions on this present
are going to be actually good.
I really feel up for at present’s reply.
I’ll go even deeper.
I bear in mind why I began
this present, which was
can I am going deeper on all
my quotes for my followers.
I’ll problem
myself on this episode to go
deeper each within the tactical
points and the theoretical
And what I imply by that,
clouds and grime by the way in which,
what I imply by that’s
how do I determine that out
may be very easy.
It begins with the actual fact
that I put in work.
So, once I go have a look at your Twitter account
and your Instagram account,
I’ll really click on your posts.
I’ll really have a look at all of your posts.
I am going to everyone’s,
when you go to a Twitter account,
you may hit their profile
after which you may say
‘view all with replies’.
So, when you go to my account,,
you may see all my non-reply
tweets and be like,
oh Gary’s pushing a variety of these up
however when you click on on ‘with
replies’ abruptly,
you get a a lot deeper image
in to what I am really
doing on Twitter, which is
I am participating at scale with my
So, once I get pissed in any respect of you,
one of many issues I am
taking a look at is I am like,
oh have a look at all these 15 individuals
that I simply spent the final
35 minutes taking a look at once I
click on their Twitter account
‘trigger they simply engaged with me,
I am double-checking so I
simply click on in a short time
often I’ve my telephone.
Okay, cool, you say good day.
Let’s do one proper now.
Actual-time, child.
Let’s do one proper now, quite simple.
That is going to be attention-grabbing.
Someone’s about to get actually known as out.
So, you open a Twitter App, proper?
And, I am going to my notifications
I will look and I will be
like, social media twit
social media TWTR, this dude,
I requested, how lengthy have
you been following me,
a variety of you answered,
thanks by the way in which.
So, I will click on in and I will
have a look at him and I will say,
okay, 1080 after which I will look
at what he is really doing
and I will see he does a variety of retweeting,
okay that is attention-grabbing to me.
He is doing a ton of retweeting
‘trigger that is his account.
So, that provides me a
sense of what he is doing
I’ll skip forward
‘trigger he is taking part in that recreation.
Now, Christin will say,
nice level by Gary Vee.
Thanks Christin.
And, I will go into right here, I will
see she has 7,000 followers
that’ll give me some info
after which I begin taking a look at
what she’s doing and he or she’s
participating, she’s participating, she’s participating,
right here she’s retweeting,
she’s hitting that individual up
I really like this, saying to
somebody they love the brand new
profile image.
That is beginning to give
me a way and truly
Christin let’s give her some daps,
are you able to zoom within the high proper nook?
Can you do
one thing there to offer her
some daps so she will get some peep love?
So, she’s doing ,
strong quantity of participating,
she’s performing some good, strong retweeting,
she’s really actually participating.
In the event you look now, over
right here, DRock, that is very faint.
All the way in which in the best
the place it says one hour,
one hour, two hours, are you able to
see that on the best right here?
It’s extremely small.
However, what I am seeing is that she’s
that is all occurring in
the final two hours, so much.
Heavy engagement.
She’s crushing the engagement there.
So, then the following factor I will do,
that is work.
Like, if anybody understands
how do I do know?
‘Trigger I am placing within the work.
Subsequent factor I do is I hit her
URL on her Twitter account
which is
after which this pops up
and I am taking a look at this.
Is that this her weblog, is that this the place she works?
I do not know but, however
right here we’re about to look.
Now, I am trying and attempting
to determine what is that this
and if I do not determine
it out rapidly,
I am like I do not know
what that is, I am out.
Appears like her weblog.
So, these are the issues I am doing.
I am analysing.
I am trying on the different stuff you do.
If I used to be taking a look at my Instagram,
I might have a look at the images
what does that individual put out.
What I am seeing my associates
and the rationale I known as out
so many individuals is; one, I am
seeing the far majority of
individuals solely in the best hook enterprise.
Due to Christin right here, I am
in temper ‘trigger she’s
jabbing the shit out of it.
So, that is nice.
However then there’s different issues.
Is she throwing proper hooks?
Is she attempting to drive individuals?
‘Trigger the best hook is
a part of the jab, jab, jab,
proper hook, which is the general thesis.
Put out nice content material,
create worth up entrance
convert it into enterprise
and so, once I see individuals
and I see a variety of you asking
the identical questions on
your espresso enterprise, your
catering enterprise, all this,
I am attempting to see if
you are doing that blend.
Are you solely proper hooking,
are you solely jabbing,
are you driving individuals efficiently,
is your web site responsive
‘trigger it is a cellular
I do that.
As you may see, that alone
I am not even achieved with Christin auditing.
That alone is 5, 7, 9 minutes.
That is madness in a
world the place I am so busy
however that’s the reason
so a lot of you comply with me.
I really imagine that.
I imagine on this karma, zen facet to it
that I am able to giving
nice solutions on this present
‘trigger I do know you means
higher than you assume
in a world the place each
certainly one of my contemporaries
that is at my degree no matter
that’s, thinks that the final
three minutes of this
present, the issues that I do
with my time in a world the place
in my inbox,
let’s break this down.
Let’s perceive what I am speaking about.
In a world the place I’ve acquired
all these emails proper now,
a few of my purchasers are going
to get upset right here I feel,
here is a vital
e-mail from John the lead
developer at Wine Library
a couple of new program that we’re
about to launch, from
Friday not answered but.
As a result of I am taking a look at
Christin’s Twitter account.
No person, no enterprise individual
thinks that is the best transfer.
And, so I feel if you wish to pop,
if you wish to be an anomaly,
you have to act like one.
– [Voiceover] Andre asks,
“Gary, I am
in your ideas about
advertising alternatives on Yik Yak!”
– Andre, so this can be a nice query.
Again to the eye graph
that I simply instructed India that
we have to drill on.
The largest purpose I am
speaking about Yik Yak a lot
is, it does have the
overwhelming consideration at scale
of this type of 18-22 12 months
previous demo that is on school
The reality is, I am not likely
ready to reply this
query that is why I took it.
The reality is, I have not put
in sufficient work on Yik Yak,
it is right here, however look the place Yik Yak is,
that is necessary, that is
one other perception, because of this
I seize so many individuals’s telephones.
Look the place Yik Yak is.
As you may see Social
is de facto jamming right here.
However, Yik Yak’s on this little
folder that claims Social.
And, it isn’t even on
the primary one, it is right here
so clearly…
Are you laughing as a result of
you are not getting zoom?
– [DRock] No, it is hiding.
– Oh, it is hiding.
That is proper, DRock
it’s hiding.
So although I am speaking
a giant recreation about my
perception in Yik Yak, my actions
aren’t following my phrases
proper now.
I am doing a nasty job, I am
not being the very best skilled
at Yik Yak.
I have not spent a variety of time in there.
Clearly, the sort of
nameless commenting
how do you get away with
selling your burger joint
or a pizza store or Wine Library,
to 21 and 22 12 months olds
Yik Yak customers,
what do you do?
Do you ask a query
about your personal enterprise?
Or do you make an announcement
about your personal enterprise?
That is a bit spammy.
The issue with Yik Yak
as a advertising platform
proper now could be that it is like
the previous boards again within the day
when everyone was nameless
within the 90’s and I might
go to wine spectators, wine
bulletin board and be like
Wine Library is an incredible retailer on the town.
You do not know the right way to do it proper.
I assume in principle, you
could make a remark of,
I hear that the Johnny
Burgers personal cook dinner is de facto sizzling
hahaha ‘trigger it is me.
I assume there is a means if
you are very genuine you may
win that recreation.
And there is clearly methods to market.
Sadly, the factor I
make enjoyable of so a lot of you of
and so many individuals of, which
is you are not a practitioner,
you are studying headlines,
I sadly on this
state of affairs am an absence of a
practitioner and I have to do
a bit bit extra of my very own work.
As you may inform I’ve
sufficient harmful information
of providing you with an instance
of a number of the issues
you are able to do, however the query would develop into
what would Yik Yak enable
manufacturers to do if something,
however clearly,
if in case you have
a restaurant or haunt
within the school demo proper now
and you are not desperately
attempting to determine Yik Yak each minute,
you make an enormous mistake.
– [Voiceover] Coach asks,
“Gary, we spend all of our time
pouring our creativity into
initiatives for our purchasers, so
that when it is time to shift
gears and concentrate on our
model, we’re exhausted.
How do you retain it burning for each?”
– Coach, the straightforward
reply right here may be very merely
that you should
you should work more durable and sooner.
There’s actually nothing else.
Im exhausted day by day,
however I am making huge
quantities of issues occur in my 18 hours.
Not solely am I working 18 hours,
however I am working quick as
hell in these 18 hours
and I am prioritising what’s
necessary and what’s not.
So, I assume the reply
to your query is,
we’re all completely different.
If you should be A-type
and rigour and organised
I might simply schedule
non-negotiable time to your
private model if that is necessary to you
from 6-7pm since you
have that entire day to
verify the field that you just
wish to and you’ve got simply acquired
that point, it is simply allotted.
Perhaps that point is 10-midnight.
However, actually there isn’t any magic reply right here.
The reply is extra time and
sooner inside that point.
I feel the sooner half
confuses lots of people.
I at all times discuss cease
watching Misplaced, sleep much less.
However there’s one other variable.
Be a lot sooner within the hours
that you just’re really in.
These guys can inform you, there
is just not a second that is down.
I work with people who find themselves
like, ‘I work ten hours a day’
after which once I audit them,
there was like 15 minutes
right here the place they watched a Youtube video.
We combat for minutes right here,
we combat for seconds right here,
I want there was different cameras
displaying you ways exhausting the
bobble heads are of the crew right here
each minute.
And so my intestine is, as a result of
I, once I thought I used to be the
greatest workaholic that ever
lived from 22-30 in operating
Wine Library however I had
sufficient time to bullshit about
baseball with Branden for
9 minutes or speak to my dad
about one thing for 15 that
made no sense and did not matter
or went to to
simply verify Jets scores.
I had time, I had time.
I am dramatically sooner
at 39 than I used to be at 29.
And, I am working extra hours.
That is the way it’s occurring.
I do know the reply, I lived it.
I’m making enjoyable of 29
12 months previous Gary Vee for
all of the spewing that I do,
that dude wasn’t as quick
and did not go for as lengthy
day by day, and that is
simply how I’ve achieved it.
– [Voiceover] Ben asks,
“Gary, what have your kids
taught you about life
and enterprise?”
– Initially that was a terrific video
I feel the Instagram
movies have large potential
as effectively.
The creativity’s coming
by way of greater than the
YouTube movies the place it is
simply that individual’s face.
So, that is a variety of enjoyable.
You recognize, it is humorous.
I took this query as effectively
as a result of I feel my reply
goes to be tremendous unpopular.
I feel lots of people are going to be,
everybody’s searching for
the romantic reply,
you realize the reality is, I really like my youngsters
insanely, however I really like my
spouse and I really like my mother and father
so insanely that,
I really like them extra however,
DRock’s at all times scared when
I am going politically incorrect,
it is the reality and I promised
to be very sincere on this.
Do I really like my youngsters greater than my mother and father?
It is a actually attention-grabbing debate for me.
It is a lot nearer than the
regular politically right
reply that I hear from others, so
it isn’t like that taught me the right way to love.
Individuals say that on a regular basis.
I used to be fucking loving every thing earlier than.
I assume on the finish of the
day, the issues that basically
actually, you realize what
that is the true reply.
The factor that my youngsters
have taught me about life,
and I assume I imagine
this very a lot in enterprise
and so a lot of you that
have been jamming with me
for a very long time know.
They’ve taught me from the
different facet, how highly effective
DNA actually is.
Watching my youngsters do the
similar precise issues I do,
like Misha when she
performs in our front room,
she’s spending extra time
attempting to paying consideration
if we’re paying consideration than
on her really efficiency.
That is what I do.
After I give talks, I am like
trying within the crowd to
make certain they don’t seem to be on their telephone.
You recognize Xander’s seems to be of ‘I acquired you’,
it is simply loopy.
So, they’ve taught me how highly effective DNA is,
and perhaps they’ve taught me to
a extra excessive degree of respect for Lizzy.
She’s simply an unimaginable
mom and simply watching
how she’s executing in
her position with them is
has taught me so much about her.
However, for me, they have not
taught me jack crap
about enterprise and different
than the rationale I wager on
individuals is predicated on my
instinct round their DNA
after which I watch their
DNA come full throttle
I am only a large DNA man.
– [Voiceover] Lex asks,
“Gary, I’ve acquired a query for you.
Who’s the historic
determine you’ll have lunch
with when you might? And why?”
– Lex, nice query.
In the beginning, two issues.
One, Lex I actually assume you
ought to put a URL in your
Instagram account so it hyperlinks out and two,
the VaynerNation you need to
take a look at is Instagram
it is a large, large
effort, nice photos.
We’re rolling with heavy
reality in episode 64.
The reply to this query is no person.
And I actually, actually, actually
hate giving it as a result of
if I am on the opposite facet
of this digital camera, I am trying
at that and saying, you
assume you are so nice
that there is no person you wish to meet
and weirdly there’s
in all probability a reality to that.
It’s really essentially,
utterly insane
how little power I’ve of
assembly anyone on a regular basis.
There’s loads of individuals I
discover ridiculously fascinating.
Winston Churchill, is
tremendous excessive and attention-grabbing.
Randy The Macho Man Savage
is a giant one for me.
Pete Rozelle, the previous
NFL commissioner I simply learn
his guide, I do not learn a variety of books,
when me and Lizzy went away in November.
I am as much as 9 or no matter.
Walt Disney is attention-grabbing, story telling.
There’s individuals attention-grabbing however it’s loopy.
In the event you stated, you might have
dinner with any historic
determine, we’re speaking
Abraham Lincoln, Walt Disney,
or the Jets may very well be,
not taking part in within the Superbowl,
that is not the place I am going.
You possibly can be in August proper
now and watching the Jets
first pre-season recreation, I might
slightly do the Jets’ pre-season recreation.
Take into consideration how insane that’s.
Pre-season I stated.
There’s one thing actually
damaged with me and I feel it
comes from ego DNA.
I do.
Or it simply speaks to a theme
that a variety of you realize which is
I am like this.
I might slightly have a look at Christin’s
Twitter account for 19 minutes
and produce that worth to the
people who have bestowed
in me the curiosity in
listening to me
than for me to go and spend
a pleasant meal and drink some
good wine with Joseph Stalin
so I can inform him he is a
piece of crap.
I do not really feel it, I’ve by no means
felt it, I’ve no curiosity.
Simply tremendous not attention-grabbing for me.
Query of the day.
Which historic determine would
you wish to have dinner with?
You retain asking me questions,
I will preserve answering them.

5 Things You Don’t Learn in Graphic Create College

– Hey everybody.
This is graphic designer Roberto
Blake and in today’s video
I’m going to talk about the
things they don’t teach you,
in fact five specific
things they don’t teach you
in graphic design school.
So while I know I’ve been out
of school for a long time now,
since I’m 30, I still have
my finger on the pulse
of what is going on in design schools.
I actually talk with a
lot of design students,
both through the channel and otherwise,
both in life and in social media.
My brother is in school to be
a graphic designer right now.
So it’s not as if I don’t
know what’s going on
and what you guys are
and are not being taught
in most cases.
There will obviously be
exceptions to the rule here.
But here are the five
things that I’m finding
that you guys are not learning
in graphic design school.
I’m going to be addressing those
things here on the channel,
and a little bit in this video.
But in most cases I’ve
already talked about a lot
of these topics at length.
And I think that they’ll
still be helpful for you,
so make sure you’re subscribed
and that you’re checking out
all the different graphic design playlists
here on the channel to
get that information.
So here are the five things
you guys are probably
not learning in design school
that you absolutely need to be learning.
How to actually get a job
as a graphic designer.
Now I know you probably think that, okay,
well you’ve got your degree,
you’ve got a portfolio,
they had you do a resume.
That’s it, right?
You should be able to go out,
go get interviews, apply to job boards.
If you’ve been looking at social media
and participating in graphic design forums
which you absolutely should,
which they’re probably not
telling you to do that,
but that’s a whole other topic,
then you would know that
people are doing that,
and not finding jobs and
not being able to get jobs
as graphic designers with
just their college degree.
When I was hiring at the
ad agency I worked at,
I had to turn away people from some
of the top design schools in the country.
We’re talking Pratt, Parsons,
FIT, School of Visual Arts.
They would not be able to handle the job,
walking into an ad agency,
and deliver for the clients.
They absolutely were
just not going to be able
to do that, and that’s not a jab at them,
that’s not a knock on them.
They were still very
talented, great professional
young men and women.
They just did not have the skills
to qualify or command a certain salary,
or to be expected to do the work.
Hiring them would be
setting them up for failure,
because there’s things
they just didn’t learn,
and understand both on the technical side,
on the career side.
They didn’t understand how to pitch,
they didn’t understand
how to promote themselves,
they didn’t understand how
to research beforehand,
and prepare a portfolio that would match
the job requirements.
They just didn’t know how
to do any of those things.
So, what you’re not learning sometimes is
what employers in the job market,
what senior designers who are
going to be interviewing you,
what art directors,
what creative directors.
You’re learning what your
professor might want from you
in terms of how to grade you,
and what their personal tastes are,
and what they think
should be in a portfolio,
and how many pieces they need to see
before they can make a decision about you.
You’re not learning about
what an employer putting
real money on the table
is going through, and the
anxiety that they’re feeling.
So imagine that I’m going to hire you
to be a graphic designer.
And imagine that we do
amazing client work.
Imagine that we do billboards
and we get 20 and 50 thousand dollars
to deliver a great billboard for a company
that’s going to bring them, you know,
a million dollars in business that year.
That’s a lot of pressure.
What I need from you is to show me
as much work and create as much value
and be as confident as possible
when you’re presenting
to me, in order for me
to say that I can put a job like that
on your shoulders and in your hands.
If you’re not confident, if you’re not
articulating yourself very well,
if your communication skills are lacking.
That’s going to translate very poorly.
If I find that, you know,
you don’t have skills in print production,
how much time can I lose to train you?
A lot of you are going
into this thinking that,
well I’ll get job training
and they’ll, you know,
help me out, and that’s part of it,
and within a month, two
months, I’ll be up to speed.
Every day that you’re having to be trained
the company is losing money.
And on some level they expect that.
But you need to mitigate that loss.
That’s something that I’m
sure a professor has not
told you yet, and that’s
not a knock on them.
They have so much to teach
you and educate you on
in a short period of
time, that teaching you,
and they may not have awareness of this.
What someone in the
hiring chair, what someone
in the entrepreneur chair,
what someone in the business world
wants and needs and
expects from a designer
is a whole different level of pressure
and category and a whole level of anxiety
that you have to overcome.
You literally have to make
people feel comfortable,
you practically have to seduce
them into giving you a job.
And I don’t mean that literally.
Do not get anybody into
legal troubles with that,
or anything like that.
I mean that you have to
literally make them trust you,
like you, feel confident in you,
and find that you are desirable in terms
of filling the position and delivering.
And if you can’t do that
you can’t land a job.
And many of you are not
prepared to do that.
So my advice is learn the
skills of salesmanship.
Some of you have had retail jobs before,
and you’ll be able to use that psychology,
and the psychology of selling
to help you get through an interview,
and be very successful.
You will use that to
help you land clients.
That’s going to be very helpful for you.
If you’ve never had a retail job
that was a commission sales job,
you don’t know how to do that yet.
You don’t know how to be
a champion for a customer,
solve a problem, find a solution,
and make them grateful
to hand you their money.
You haven’t learned that skill yet,
and that lacking is what’s
going to damage your career.
And if you’re professors
aren’t instilling in you that
at some level, you need
to be auditing marketing
and business classes in addition
to your graphic design classes.
This goes into our second point.
How to get clients.
Not all of you are going to
want to work for an ad agency.
Not all of you are going to
want to work for a magazine.
Not all of you are going to want
to work for an in-house agency.
Some of you are going to want
to be marketing mercenaries
and go out there running
and gunning as a freelancer.
And your professors aren’t necessarily
preparing you for that,
because may not believe in it,
they may not see the value in it.
But understand this, that
you don’t even have to be
the most successful
freelancer in the world
to scale to six figures.
If you think about it, doing
that would mean taking on
ten clients a month at $1000 a project.
That might sound extraordinary to you
because you’re a student,
but that’s because
you don’t yet understand the value
of some of the work that
you’re going to be producing.
And you’re not thinking
that you’ll have clients
with those budgets.
If you have a web design
client, and you’re having
to be a web designer, those projects scale
from anywhere, from, yeah
they could be low-balled,
they could be somebody’s small mom and pop
that wants to an $800, $500 website.
Or, they could be a small startup business
that has $1200 to $2500 to invest in it.
So right there, if you were
able to get four of those,
that’s your ten grand for a month.
If you have a system for replicating that,
you scale to six figures
before the end of the year.
You don’t know to align yourself
with a marketing company
that can feed your pipeline as a designer
and will bring clients to
you to handle the visual end,
and they just mark up your services.
You don’t know to build
that relationship yet,
because no one’s telling you that.
I’m telling you that though.
And that’s why you need to be
subscribed to this channel.
Not for my sake but because
I’m trying to help you build
in your graphic design
career, and understand
what it takes to really be successful.
And I’m trying to solve your problems.
That’s why I’m delivering for you.
That’s the value that I’m creating.
Demonstrate and create
value for your clients.
This is what is the secret that is lost
on so many designers.
They think that all they have to do
is create quality work, and that’s true.
Quality work trumps everything.
But what is quality work?
It’s quality work when it delivers
on the needs of the client.
Not when it’s quality work
because you just feel good about it,
or because you’re able to do your style
and do what you wanted to do,
but it solved the problem of the client,
or their audience, or their
customer, or their clients.
Which brings me to my next point.
Understanding how to market yourself.
Understanding how to market yourself means
understanding how to
communicate, how to story tell,
and as a graphic designer intuitively know
how to do that for other people.
But when it comes to yourself
I find that many graphic designers,
they can do amazing
work for their clients,
but they are less than
amazing when it comes to
marketing and promoting
and branding themselves.
And this is so very important.
This is absolutely important,
and it is the biggest mistake
that most graphic designers
make in their careers.
And this doesn’t just
apply to freelancers.
You need to be doing this
as an in-house designer
or agency designer well,
because you need to be
constantly upping your game
and upping your value so
that if you need to move on
to another job you can
command a higher salary.
Not a lower one, not the same one
just because the economy shifts.
Or so that one day you can scale
and go to a higher position
so that you’re not just a designer.
Maybe one day you become a
head of an art department.
Maybe one day you become a studio manager.
You need to be positioning
yourself for that
and have a plan.
And that plan includes marketing yourself,
learning how to toot your own horn
without sounding arrogant or presumptuous,
or pretentious, and knowing
who you need to be speaking to,
and who you need to be
speaking with, how to network.
All these things that you’re
probably not learning.
You might be learning
the basics of Photoshop.
You’re learning gestalt
uniform principles,
you’re learning about the Bauhaus,
you’re learning about LetterPress,
and you’re learning about
all these other things
which some of them are great,
and some of them are archaic.
But you’re not learning how to sell.
You’re not learning how to sell yourself,
and at the end of the day
all that tremendous knowledge
is for naught when you’re
staring at student loan debts
and you can’t either get
clients or get an employer
to get you out of the hole.
And its going to come
down to salesmanship.
You’re going to have to put
in the work there as well,
and if you’re not learning
how to do it you need to be.
Let’s talk to a more lighter point here.
How to find inspiration.
One of the things that
designers often struggle with
is how to get over creative blocks
and how to discover inspiration.
And how to do that without
necessarily copying anyone.
Now first of all you have
to get past your own idea
that anything quote unquote original,
truly original, exists.
You may have never seen it,
someone might have done
it a thousand years ago.
Whatever idea you have, someone’s had it.
There’s 6.7 billion people
in the world right now,
and yeah, some of them are toddlers,
but I’m sure at some point,
someone had the same idea as you.
I can’t tell you how many times
I’ve drawn or sketched something
or wrote something down
or had a conversation with somebody,
and then two years later
I’m watching the movie.
It happens.
So, again, in terms of inspiration,
stop thinking about it.
Walk away from it.
You know, and I do whole
videos on inspiration.
Where you can find it.
Magazines, movies, books, music.
The thing is, you don’t
think outside the box
when you put yourself in a cubicle.
So get out there, experience the world.
The world’s gonna be your
greatest inspiration.
And getting out of your own head
and getting out of your
own usual environment
is gonna be the best thing you can do.
And again, I don’t know that that’s advice
that you’ve gotten so far.
Finally, last point.
How to be successful
as a graphic designer.
I know that the whole
point of college for you
probably was to learn how to be successful
as a graphic designer.
But ultimately it wasn’t.
It was to give you the
basic prerequisite skills
to eventually become successful.
You don’t become successful
as a graphic designer
without understanding
who is already successful
as a graphic designer.
You need to be looking
at Graham Smith, David Airey, Jacob Cass.
You know, you need to look at designers
that you admire and respect their work.
And if you don’t know the
names of some of these people,
Milton Glaser, Saul Bass.
But again some of those are older.
You have much more modern examples,
like Radim Malinic, Karen
Maris, Karen Kavett, myself.
There are a ton of
graphic designers that are
more relevant to you
today that you can scale
to be as successful as.
And that you can learn from
them, and their example.
And their stories are
more open I would say,
because of the fact that those
other people I talked about,
that was the era pre-youtube
and pre-internet,
and all those things
aside from David Airey,
and there may not be as
much content out there
for you to experience
what their personality,
their quirks, and learn
about them and their work
and their style.
So, you’ll be looking at Wikipedia entries
and its not quite the same thing.
So regardless of who
you want to learn about,
learn about successful graphic designers,
learn what the gap is
between you and them,
and figure out a strategy and
a plan for closing that gap.
Anyway, I hope this video was informative.
I hope you guys were educated
and entertained by it.
And that you now have
an idea of some things
that you’re not learning
in graphic design school.
If you still have questions
or comments or you have
some ideas of other things
that you’re not learning
in graphic design school, I’m interested.
Let me know in the comments section below,
and I will talk about it with you.
I’ll respond to as many
comments as I possibly can.
If I don’t get to yours I apologize.
I try to get to every
single one of the comments
at some point.

The Last Handbook to Conserving a Journal | The Most realistic most likely Guide You’ve Ever Study

all right you all this is a very very exciting time for me because I am swapping out my beloved journal right every time at the beginning of the year I order a new one and it’s here right here so I thought I’d do a little fun unboxing video those are big on YouTube I love seeing them and then dive into it show you how I do it I’ll probably go to a coffee shop and get out of this shithole apartment but I want to show you real quick this is where the magic happens let me do this there we go all right here excited ordered it from Miller pads and paper on Amazon look at that there’s nothing in there blank pages oh that’s oh it’s beautiful this is the one I use I’ll go into it everything you need to know about journaling in this video by the way this thing I in case you’re wondering right there it’s ten bucks it’s a sketchbook and it is 110 sheets Amazon just Google like handsome sketchbook this one is the 11 by 8 and a half inch if you want to get the exact same one all right guys let’s dive into it and if you call in the next 15 minutes I’ll double you order and throw in a free edition of springboard launching your personal search for success what dudes Clark this is the how-to journal entry or infomercial so let me show you real quick how we journal but first I want to do three things I’m going to start with the why the what then the how one two three I want to show you those first two the why and the what why journal why does this matter to you watching this video right now if I’m going to go into ten minutes why should you watch the whole 10 minutes hands down journaling is the number one thing I’ve done the number one tool for expanding my human consciousness for developing as a human being more so than seminars more so the nutrition more so than exercise more so than books than speaking than talking it’s journaling okay why do we journal it’s because it’s the one thing put simply that if my house was burning down I would run into and first thing I would do is grab my current journal right and then I’d probably go back in try and grab the other two and then I’d probably grab my cat because you know he’s kind of high up there so journaling I want to go into kind of what it is and and really what it’s not but I mean I can’t convince you enough how many insights I’ve had in my own personal life from just putting a pen to paper there’s something magical that happens when you take these guys in different colors and you dive into it you know we’re so used to this kind of a dee dee Society some of you can’t even watch this whole video without skipping through it there’s something that happens when we are inundated with information but starving for knowledge and wisdom we get text messages throughout the day we’re checking our Twitter feeds we’re liking photos on Instagram wondering how many people liked our photos it’s where we get our self-worth we’re skipping 250 videos on YouTube before sitting through each one our attention spans are going everywhere advertisers are trying to get into your head they make millions of dollars doing it when are you going to stop and really take time to reflect on yourself and what you’ve done this year mention it in another video you know let’s just call it out of the hundred percent of people that set New Year’s resolutions 92 fail by February right most of people aren’t going to the gym in February most of people have set goals fall don’t follow through why is that I believe it’s because the distractions come and we don’t really concentrate on one thing long-winded answer journaling is how you concentrate on that one thing journaling is where you are today and expanding yourself based on their successes so that’s kind of the why I can’t emphasize this enough it’s something you choose to do or you don’t and if you don’t choose to do it it’s not for you that’s fine what is journaling is the big question okay so if I sold you on the Y let’s get into the what and then I’ll show how what is journaling well I think one of the best ways to go about this is to kind of shatter some Mis beliefs about germs some misconceptions rather you know it’s almost stigmatized or how the dirty word a dirty connotation when you think a journal what it is not we think of a diary right or something where we write a 13 year old girl right you know I saw this boy I kissed this dude and we hide it under our bed hoping our older brother doesn’t find it tuck it in our mattress right or we write down our it’s like a mini blog really who gives a but journaling isn’t that at all in fact it’s really the opposite there’s two kinds of journals that I in my years of doing this have come to realize exist and what are they well the first one is more of a log this is a stream of consciousness this is a daily entry style journal this is something that I’ve never done I like the second time I’ll get to but this is very useful if you do daily entries or you just free write and you date them and you can look back it’s a narrative people do it when they’re traveling give my brother one of these you know many journals he went to Europe and did it every day and now he’s writing it up and loved it but the second kind is what I’m big on so the first kind of log the second kind is what I’m about to show you here in this video it’s the best book you’ve ever read that’s it that’s the second kind I don’t know how an elegant way to put it besides the best book you’ve ever read and the thing is you’re writing it you’re reading it and it’s for you now every single great person here of in history they journal Leonardo da Vinci sold his or he didn’t personally smell but Bill Gates bought eight pages of Leonardo da Vinci’s journal for I think it was in the hundreds of millions of dollars you can look it up he scanned them in there online now for the general public but these things are so valuable that everyone before us knew about them and we just forgot about it they were creating the best book they ever read all their insights for one place logged down I’m going to show you how to do that but basically the best book you’ve ever read starts with gathering your information that matters to you – Jake – Sally – Mary – Brian – dust and whoever the heck is watching this video it’s your book I personally take books which I’ll show you and I go through and I highlight them and I annotate them then I distill it into I don’t know 200 or so pages and over the years I’ve gathered that I can instead of reading the entire book again I can go through and pick out stuff from way the superior man and realize you know number 23 is really stood out to me because there’s no one out there who knows you better than you who knows what you like better than you it’s like trying to get your friend to cook you your favorite meal you can tell what your favorite meal is you can tell them how you like to prepare it but ultimately you know your style you know exactly what you want and that’s where you get it so I think I’ve kind of dived into the wine the what I really am excited to show you guys the how this is something a lot of you have been asking for in every single video and it’s something I kind of put off put off put off and and I’ll get to it so I’m finally get into it and I’m going to show you right now diving in to how we journals hopefully you’re on board hopefully you’re still with me and let’s get into the nitty gritties of how you can Rock 2015 and beyond make it your best year ever and develop as a human being okay here we go oh here you see my three my three friends this I mentioned in the intro is my favorite journal of all time it’s the pen talaq sketchbook now let me open it up real quick before I get into kind of dividing it into sections you can see it’s all blank that is money right there why is it blank well I believe I believe that the lines kind of stifle creativity and that you should be able to write wherever the heck you want if you want to write sideways do it if you want to right diagonal do it if you want in circles do it if you want to sketch something – it doesn’t matter there’s no lines there anyway back to it this guy is the pentelic little one and this is the first journal I ever had and filled it up in 2012-13 I’m not too sure what it is but you know you can see it’s really full with with things like art it wasn’t organized at all and just you know creations and and all these different things I was going through I would recommend going bigger than this I’m going to show you how I actually journal so what I have here is the old journal from 2014 and my new journal from 2015 okay and so the first thing I do when I get a new journal is I started on the new year and this will be carried with me all year wherever I go clearly it’s it’s in better condition than and this one has been so I like to choose five or six sections that really resonate with me now they’re pretty consistent with this I was not organized I was scatterbrained anything goes but I found when I really redid this that dividing it up into sections helped a ton because there I would have all my stuff in one section for instance this where is it not really adding to it okay here we go that’s a book note gratitude right here this is the gratitude section for the next ten or so pages it’s all going to be about what I’m grateful for what I do for this one this is my new one okay now I’ve blocked out my number because some of you in previous videos found my number and actually gave me a phone call which is fine I don’t really care but it’s just some no offence I don’t want everyone do and watching this video a little creepy guys okay so first thing you do is put your name address in case this is lost remember this is your book if your building is burning down this is the first thing you are going to grab so you have your journal name you’re ready to divide it into sections these guys pilot g2 pens get a four pack it comes with green where the hell is my green I lost it only way you can get green send me some green pens these are the best pens I’ve ever found love them people always look at me when I’m journaling in a coffee shop and they say you’re so OCD why do you write in pens why do you highlight every book why do you take notes it’s because life life is in color and your journal should be to write okay but getting weird here first section is book notes remember these are just my five or six sections you can do whatever the hell you want it’s your journal you don’t have to copy me but this is a good place to start if you is this is your first time journaling so what I’m gonna do in this section is any book I find I’m gonna go through and when I read it I highlight the things I want to reread I’ll show you for instance I just read my first book of the year that I’m going to put in here is the power of habit why we do what we do in life in business great great book bought it in an airport this past the first of the year and I finished it about a week ago so you can see I read the whole thing you don’t have to read the whole thing of a book if it sucks don’t feel the need to finish something let’s stupid it’s a waste of time and let’s just say right here you know I was reading it about the habit loop and rewards can range from food or drugs across physical sensations emotional payoff such as feelings of pride accompany praise congratulations habits are powerful but delicate so some reason that stood out to me and if I’m really if I reread all this stuff in yellow and I like it I’ll go through and underline it and it’s always the stuff that I put stars next to or underlined that makes it into the journal because then I can go back and know so like that you know I start that and so yeah I mean that’s going to be the first one for instance this one springboard which is really one actually got this recommendation off of Amazon review someone said this one book sucked and this book was better under the Amazon review so I went for it and I read it and actually turned up being a kick-ass book I’d never heard of but this you know clearly I wrote in here and I underlined a section so basically in the books you know when they give you ideas or stuff to work on or or anything like that you should really take that in consideration and that’s what your journals for it’s a workbook because how often do we read books and they tell us to do something and we don’t do it how often do we watch these videos and we tell I yell at you or give you ideas and we just click on to the next video or say we’re going to do it tomorrow myself included that’s what I do and having something to write it all in really holds you accountable back to you so springboard this was a chapter on your unique strengths and I’ve taken several strengths tests which I’ve gone into and at the end you know I just wrote them all out and said pretty much like where do all of these integrate and how can I use those in service to the world so I did the strengths finder the Martin Seligman one which is my all-time favorite strengths tests just did a video on that check it out and then I’ve done this book which gave me these and you know what after journaling on these it really kind of refocused Sande reframed what I wanted to do in 2015 and making these videos and where I want to go with this business and what I want to do in life in terms of travel and giving and contributing so before I ramble on you get the idea let me show you an example let’s go into my old book first page real quick I just use it as the biggest things so for example you know if I find something in a seminar or a teacher or a book that’s underlined an asterisk and quoted in something that I would tweet or something that I can instantly go to and feel uplifted inspired elevated by that goes in the front right there so for instance three three thirty two thousand eight hundred and fifty that is the number of days you have if you made it to 90 years old basically meaning that we think that life is forever but it’s only thirty two thousand eight hundred fifty days if you’re lucky to make it to 90 and if you’re twenty three right now cut that number by a third or you know it’s your 30th third or wherever it goes for some reason that really stands out to me it’s a lot less than I thought we had and maybe it is for you too or for instance what one can be one must be for Abraham Maslow basically meaning that you know if you are self actualizing in life that’s the best thing ever and that’s what you have to do there’s no other choice top five regrets of the dying where the nurse the nurse studied thousands of terminally ill patients and asked them what they regret in life and these were these were their top five you know I wish I had to courage to live a life true to myself wish I hadn’t worked so hard wish I had courage to express my feelings which had seemed touched my friends which I had to let myself be happier again those really stand out to me I don’t know about you but if I interviewed thousands of dying people I want to know what they thought they missed in life or even what they were grateful for but what they could have done better and and where can I learn from not their mistakes but there I guess regrets on their on their dying death and every time I read that man it’s an eye-opener so this is getting a little nostalgic I’m again into the book notes and show you back to journaling and how to do it but um yeah it’s just I mean even right now when I’m reading the stuff I’m like man got to incorporate that or or read that again so I’ll come back to this but anyway where was I book notes right here chapter so Osho of love love and freedom and aloneness I read his book basically journaled on some big ideas 22 immutable laws of marketing went into that one philosophy books sex at dawn springboard right there good the great way the superior man happiness hypothesis best books ever prosperous coach Leonardo da Vinci how to win friends and influence people you get the idea okay moving on next section section one is book notes section two gratitude journal what I like to do in this guy is break it up into five things you’re grateful for that day or that week or whatever basically the research on this is coming out of universities and they’re finding out how do we take people in psychology field and make them better we’ve gotten really good at taking the depressed people and making them not depressed right bringing them back to baseline but where do we take the baseline folks and make them excel make them the the thriving 10% how can you improve yourself from not feeling like to feeling better but from feeling better to feeling awesome how do you get there where does that come into play people such as Martin Seligman have been studying that over the years and they’ve found that one of the best things in the world’s best things in the world is gratitude they took three groups of people and they had them I think one group was didn’t do anything right case study one group wrote down I think like a journal of what they could do better and I’m butchering the study basically one group wrote a gratitude Journal of just once a week like every Sunday five things they were grateful for the only constraint was they had to really go into those and and think about them and let gratitude fill their soul or fill themselves up and what they found was that there was a significant increase in the people who kept a gratitude journal even if something is once a week five things you’re grateful for one time a week can have significant double-digit numbers percentage-wise on your overall happiness now I’m not speaking from a study that I haven’t applied in my life when I was in Hawaii every single day I wrote down five things I was grateful for I could remember doing that every day and feeling happier than I had felt in a long time and you notice yourself when you incline your mind for joy like that throughout the day you’ll be you’ll be seeing things and being like got to remember that from a gratitude journal later or I need to work on that more or anything else along those lines so if gratitude is something you’ve never experienced or experimented with then I would go into that and the batteries give that so I’ll get this going faster gratitude the second section and I have videos on this channel all about that I’d recommend you get there and start practicing that okay what’s the next section this is a new section I got called brain dump basically this is remember I was talking about the two styles of journaling this is that first style of kind of like a log but this is where if you’re feeling depressed or down or out of it you’re just having one of those days this is the uncensored section of your journal you can rants you can rave you can cuss you can tear it up you can rip it up it doesn’t matter this is where you take it all out and you might be wondering why would you want that in the best book you’ve ever read because the best book you’ve ever read guys has high as it has lows it doesn’t just try and be this don’t worry be happy’ thing in life I think that’s a dangerous place to be in or you don’t just try to think yourself better out of something no I feel like you should be able to feel the loads of life and feel the emotions and feel what’s going on and really take it out I always say that if you what you don’t express you repress so if it’s not coming out here it’s coming out later so one way or another you’re going to take it out on a loved one are you going to take it out on yourself and build it up or you’re going to it’s going to manifest itself somewhere else and that’s not fair to those around you that you love I’ve noticed when I haven’t expressed myself fully or things are pissing me off over a long period of time I lash out at those around me and that’s a dangerous place to be in because it ruins relationships so this is a really important section this is where you take out your your your mental clutter this is where you express it so you don’t repress it brain dump that’s the section that’s a new section for me this year for sure it’s a small one too because I don’t really plan on on on having tons of that but freedom this is the next section section three this is artwork this is expression this is let me show you real quick in in this journal let me find it for you bear with me you know okay so freedom this past section you know I drew this thing online like a raven or I did cool artwork I saw or I did um right here like a mind map or I did like an elephant or it did The Tree of Life or I did um you know just kind of something I was feeling arts and crafts or I did um you know just our freedom is anything you want again these are my sections you don’t have to use them moving on something next one yes it is I give myself about 10-15 pages on each section video notes online stuff any video I see any seminar any coaching call this is where it goes this always is really jam-packed full of full of good stuff and that’s why it’s a bit one of the biggest sections okay in the last section I have you all is a business what do I want to create this year what are my goals how do I get those what do I want to do with the podcast what do I do with the YouTube channel what do I want to do online with my blog this is the business section this is where it all and so I’m excited to fill that up last thing you do is stamp it with the year and your name what everyone do there you go guys my journal in about 25 minutes kind of an insight of one of my favorite things that that I do in life and I’m not perfect in any way shape or form in fact one of the biggest things I realize is when I go back through my old journals and it’s a humbling experience you realize the times where you’re struggling in life or the times you were high at the highest in life or your reflections or the things you’ve gotten out of books and you realize how much you still have to incorporate into your life and where you’re not showing up fully journals you can’t bsut if I could give you one piece of advice to leave you with I would say when it comes to journaling don’t censor yourself enjoy it give yourself some slack but don’t go easy on yourself say things as they are but not worse than they are you’re doing a brain dump go into it fully express it allow yourself to feel whatever you’re feeling go back and edit it maybe when you’re having a better day or you’re not feeling like that anymore long story short do it however you want to do it there’s no right way to journal there’s no wrong way to journal okay this is about you and what you need to do in your life to fill yourself up really so best of luck control your life don’t let life control you trying to think here any closing words I’m just excited I am this is something I’m passionate about so best of luck to you let me know what you think in the comments below if you have any questions or or you want me to go over something more happy to help let me know how this worked out for you and and and where your journals go or tweet me a photo or tag me an Instagram post or something all right guys stop settling start living you

#AskGaryVee Episode 62: Franchising, Begin Courses & Money or Publicity

– On this episode, we
speak about franchising,
we speak about open
programs, we additionally speak about
money or publicity, and far, far more.
– [Gary] You ask questions,
and I reply them.
That is The #AskGaryVee Present.
– What’s up, everyone?
That is Gary Vay-ner-chuk
and that is episode 62
of The #AskGaryVee Present.
That was this.
Alright, let’s get into the present.
A number of stuff has been
happening on the planet.
I have been tremendous MIA in
January, I apologize.
I do know we have misplaced our
momentum, every day.
DRock all the time needs to
shoot episodes within the can,
I wish to stay in the actual world.
He is in all probability proper.
I get to make the calls.
Sorry, DRock.
By the way in which, I have been
actually having fun with all of the love
you are getting. I do not know
in the event you’ve been noticing,
however each time you get love, I soar in
and attempt to discredit the love.
The dude was like, “DRock, it is
actually you behind the digital camera
that basically makes this present.” I am like…
(off-screen laughter)
Anyway, simply kidding. Simply kidding.
Tremendous joyful, issues are going nice.
Hustling actually arduous and
constructing VaynerMedia.
That’s the reason I have been busy off the present.
You understand, for me to have your consideration,
I must be delivering
on the recommendation I give
and so generally that takes
me away from the workplace.
Been hustling arduous with new shoppers,
constructing new relationships,
networking, CES,
various things of that nature.
So, sorry I have been somewhat
uneven, going to Sundance,
you already know, like so, tremendous
uneven however we’ll get into
a pleasant rhythm, I believe we
have 4 or 5, simply,
subsequent week. Oh, three now as a result of I am going
to a different assembly, attempting
to get a brand new consumer,
center America, massive ups.
Let’s get into the present.
– [Voiceover] Harold asks,
“Gary, what’s your view
on franchising your organization
when you may’t ensure
if others will look after
the model in the identical method?”
Harold, that is an important query.
I believe the actual reply to that
wants yet one more layer of context.
Once you say, “franchising what you are promoting”,
constructing a consumer-facing enterprise,
a retailer, a QSR, a
restaurant, then franchising
is an incredible mannequin, we have seen it from
McDonald’s, to 5 Guys, Sonic.
I imply, it is an important factor to do.
It is the correct enterprise
mannequin, or it is a phenomenal
model of the correct enterprise mannequin.
You’ll be able to go non-public, if you would like.
What I am involved about,
and what I do not know,
and India, I did not actually ask you, is–
Present India, everyone’s
in all probability lacking India.
– Hello.
– [Gary] You may get a
little digital camera time, Staphon.
Are you happening the
route of promoting your title?
The explanation I am asking
that, and I do not know
in the event you can determine it
out from the query,
lots of people attempt to franchise “me”.
I do know there’s a variety of
“gurus”, and “recommendation individuals”,
the place they educate the–
The quantity of those that pitched me,
when it was at its warmth, in 2010,
on the thought of a “Gary
Vaynerchuk Crush It! Course”,
and they’d be the particular person instructing,
and they’d siphon again as much as me,
that was one thing I
wasn’t comfy with.
As a result of it wasn’t one thing
I felt represented me
and I would not wish to
franchise that route.
So in the event you’re asking that,
that is tremendous uncomfortable
to me, any individual representing
you, a giant concern of mine.
So far as a retailer or a restaurant,
I really feel tremendous comfy with that.
Many individuals have pulled
off ensuring the model
was insured by plenty of
guidelines, plenty of authorized jargon,
plenty of coaching, no matter
it took to scale that.
Something out of your finish?
You get something there?
Alright. So that is the
reply, I offer you each.
Who cares? Let’s actually–
Earlier than we transfer on the present,
I’ll swap it up.
I’ll swap up the way in which that
it’s a must to ask questions
to get on the present.
Me, all the time attempting new
issues, attempting to combine it up.
We’ll swap
platforms to ask the query.
Alex DS has been within the
trenches on my Instagram.
So a few you’re my
“beta companions” on this launch.
We’ll give extra particulars on
tips on how to submit for the present,
however I believe you are going to
like this. Let’s go into it.
– [Voiceover] Sean asks,
“Gary, what are your sensible
#HustleHacks in the case of food plan, sleep,
and your day by day routine?
How do you keep power and mind energy
whereas hustling nonstop?”
Sean, I believe a variety of that comes to–
To start with, nice image.
This complete image dynamic
goes to actually flip the swap.
Clearly you guys know
I am tremendous scorching on Instagram.
To me, I care concerning the Consideration Graph,
really I wish to write
an article on Medium
about this, the Consideration Graph.
That is the entire sport.
That is really in all probability my nugget.
I win on that. Which is,
the place’s the eye?
You understand, YouTube, a yr
after YouTube comes out,
it is bought consideration that individuals
do not understand is effective.
Begin the #AskGaryVee
present, podcasting, snapchat–
Or begin Wine Library
TV, sorry for the combo up.
One in the identical, it is all household.
They’re my children, I really like them each.
It is bizarre that I’ve two exhibits.
I am actually weirded out that I am gonna be
an individual that has two exhibits.
Anyway, to reply your query,
it actually comes all the way down to loving it.
The explanation I will proceed to hustle
and do what I do is as a result of I find it irresistible.
I really like doing the present, I really like
flying everywhere in the nation.
I like taking my form
of selfies on Instagram
the place I am sour-face and everyone’s like,
“Do not be like–
That is what you need,
proper? Why are you upset?”
I am not upset, I am just–
Type of enjoyable little pout
face that I like doing
once I journey, 13-year-old women cannot be
the one those that pout.
I believe for me it comes all the way down to
I find it irresistible a lot that–
Here is an excellent reply, I
awoke at 5:15 this morning
after touchdown at midnight
on a flight yesterday,
to play six a.m. tip-off basketball at present
as a result of I beloved it. However
if Muscle Mike got here in
to work me out at the moment, I
would’ve been extra begrudged.
As a result of I really like basketball,
I really like competitors.
I’ve come to like the figuring out,
I really like the way in which it makes me look.
I have been some
outdated movies like, whew!
However that is what it comes all the way down to.
In the event you really find it irresistible, it
would not really feel like work.
All these additional hours I am placing into
the Wine Library stuff proper now,
would not really feel like work as a result of I really like
the wine retail hustle
sport, so it is attention-grabbing.
It simply comes down to like.
– [Voiceover] Kate Parker
asks, “Gary, I’m rising
my enterprise and trying to
embrace companions for content material.
What’s one of the best ways to recruit them?
Cash/promise of publicity?”
– Kate, I am tremendous pumped.
Guys, I went to highschool with Kate.
By the way in which, let me give
a giant shout out to Kate.
Kate got here to my highschool junior yr
in the course of the yr.
And Kate was a prime 5 enticing woman,
I am being very politically right right here,
in our faculty. She made large noise.
Kate, large shout out
for the noise you made
at North Hunterdon Excessive Faculty, 1993.
And recruited as a
soccer star, by the way in which.
Simply providing you with some daps, Kate.
I have been noticing a variety of your stuff,
a few of your work is unbelievable,
it has been actually enjoyable to observe.
Anyway, I believe each work. It is determined by
what persons are extra motivated by.
When you’ve got a sufficiently big
platform to create publicity,
individuals will work at no cost. DRock hit me up
and provided to make a movie at no cost for me
as a result of he knew that was gonna get him
his publicity. He vetted,
or intuitively felt,
that I I used to be an excellent man,
certain sufficient earlier than I gave him
a full-time job provide to work right here,
which take into consideration that end result,
however that is for an additional day.
He did get into contact with
Chris Brogan, Ted Rubin,
– [DRock] There have been
like three different individuals.
– So he made the correct
transfer. You can say,
“Wow he did that at no cost.”
The explanation I am all the time
keen to take free work,
and free hustle, is
as a result of I really feel comfy
with the truth that I am
gonna attempt to pay them again
tenfold on the ROI, by
giving them a shout out,
I do know different those that
are advertising leaders
take note of me as a result of
I have been on the cusp
of doing new stuff, so he
had all these alternatives.
Now, I swooped in and noticed
the uncooked, superb expertise
that this man had and had
to deliver him on board.
And this present exists as a result of
DRock joined the household
and it gave me the infrastructure,
so massive shout out to you, DRock.
So, I believe free works. If
you assume different photographers
will see worth in your platform,
or no matter you are attempting to perform,
cash all the time works as nicely.
I believe persons are motivated
by various things.
I will inform you one thing individuals
all the time attempt to do with me.
I by no means do it, however individuals
do it on a regular basis,
is leveraging your rolodex.
I imply the quantity of individuals
which can be keen to do issues for me,
for me to get them to…
individuals, I do not know, I am
not going to call drop.
But it surely’s insane, I by no means wanna do this.
As a result of I believe that is
not doing the correct factor
for my relationship, however I
perceive why individuals do it.
Individuals do it to me left and proper.
They’re like, “Hey Gary Vee.
Meet my boy, Johnny McGee.”
And once I meet Johnny McGee it is like,
“Yeah, I gave Ricky McGee
eight billion {dollars}
to get to you”, it occurs on a regular basis.
Individuals worth various things,
I believe cash and publicity
are two issues that actually–
Are we doing Patriot stuff?
Guys, it’s a must to
perceive. I am a bizarre man.
Guys, I am a bizarre man. I am bizarre.
I’ll fireplace over loopy, bizarre shit.
Minnie, I am not scared about
this. I am not scared, Minnie.
I fireplace over Patriot shit, I promise.
Hey guys, how do you want this?
– [Gary] Like that?
So, yeah. That is it. Let’s
go on the following query.
I do know you simply bought taught
tips on how to submit questions
and now I am stretching
this out somewhat bit extra,
however let’s put up 5
or six of Kate’s pictures.
It is highschool love.
(gradual R&B music)
– [Voiceover] Fireboycreative
asks, “Gary, I am a giant fan
of on-line programs, I see
this usurping conventional
establishments of schooling in a giant method.
Do you see this occurring?
And is there cash to be made?”
– What’s up, Fireboy? Fast
reply to this query is sure.
You understand, sure.
Uber, Airbnb, Skillshare,
that is in all probability one of many
ones you are speaking about.
There is a bunch out–
Chase Jarvis is behind one.
Sure. I completely believe–
Khan Academy, the truth that once I’m attempting
to be taught one thing, I
go to YouTube and search
a how-to and watch a
one minute how-to video.
Data as schooling is a commodity,
the Web has created that platform
for us to be taught that method.
I do not want a trainer, as
charismatic as they might be,
to simply inform me the data,
what issues are opinions,
interpretations, context,
not the bottom data.
So even right here, my base data is ok.
How I layer the context
of the present world
is much extra attention-grabbing. So I
assume schooling is massively
going to be disrupted
over the following 20 years,
and I believe you are
barking up the correct tree.
Jeff, this query, and
photograph accompanying it,
might be the rationale
we made this swap.
I imply, that is unbelievable.
I am so enthusiastic about this.
I do know some persons are
like, “Oh, Instagram.”
Recover from yourselves.
Let’s assault the ‘gram
together with your questions.
It is a great query,
which makes it much more attention-grabbing.
The reply, my man, may be very merely like,
what you have to determine is brief time period money
versus long run wealth. Let me clarify.
My reply to you’d be,
okay, you are making the products–
By the way in which, I had a giant
enterprise on the time,
however the way in which I did Wine Library TV
was all-encompassing myself,
besides to Chris Mott’s
credit score, Mott videotaped,
however there was no enhancing the way in which DRock–
It was simply importing, and in
concept, I may’ve completed that
for an hour, however in all probability
not. So massive shout out to Mott.
You need to determine if you wish to make–
I do not know the way lengthy it takes you to make
one in all your items, proper?
I might make seven items
as a substitute of 13 in a yr,
if I can stay off of
that. I might do this.
I might then spend extra
time on constructing my model,
as a result of that is actually what an artist is.
Doing the Instagram stuff
you are doing, increase
your Pinterest, being
sensible and understanding the world
and have a look at all of the publicity.
I actually really feel assured
one particular person will purchase
one in all your items from this present.
You knew about me,
you commented on my feedback,
Alex hit up a bunch of individuals
during the last couple of days.
Not that many replied.
You took the initiative to do
it, now you are on the present.
Now you have bought this publicity,
20-30 thousand views.
Now what you do with that
is you are leveraging that,
and rapidly it
turns into provide and demand.
There are artists who make one–
I am certain, I am not very
sturdy within the artwork world.
India, you may assist me right here somewhat bit.
I do know what the reply
is, there’s some artists
who make one piece each couple of years.
That is how they make their complete residing
as a result of it is value a ton of cash,
as a result of they have the model.
Now that you may go model direct–
By the way in which, Crush It! is
actually the blueprint
of the present state of the Web.
I do not wanna go there, however
I used to be ridiculously proper.
Not even type of. So we’re
all residing that world now.
Grape Story, my company
that represents Vine Expertise
is mainly the company of what
Crush It! was speaking about.
It is a quite simple factor. Money, wealth.
In the event you determine to make
seven items this yr
and that is sufficient so that you can stay,
then it makes me joyful
as a result of you may take
the remainder of that point, as a substitute of 13,
I do not know all of the numbers
however you see the place I am going,
to construct your model, to
have interaction, to place out content material,
to write down a Medium submit, to
put up Instagram pictures,
and that builds up your
provide and demand curve.
In the event you’re equally ok at each,
then the demand will get to
a spot the place you can begin
charging extra to your items
to construct up your model.
It is quite simple, it is
been happening endlessly.
Unbiased individuals have all the time completed that,
Must you make items or
do you have to open a gallery?
It is rooster and egg.
The opposite factor to debate
is are you able to herald
any individual at a low value to do it
full-time and enable you scale.
You are the one one that may reply.
